Area Attractions

The Manistee County area caters to a wide variety of interests.  We are sure that everyone in your group will find something of interest.

The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

The Travelers Motel is less than an hour's drive from the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, which was named the "Most Beautiful Place in America" by Good Morning America. For more information, visit the National Park Service website.

The Little River Casino

We are a sensible alternative to the high-priced rooms available at the Little River Casino.  A free, 24-hour shuttle service is available to transport you to and from the casino.  Ask about our casino coupons.

Golfing

Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club and the Manistee National Golf Course are both located within 20 miles of the Travelers Motel.

Water

Portage Lake is just a short walk down the street and a public beach on Lake Michigan is a ten-minute drive out to Portage Point.  Public launches enable you to get your sport boat or personal watercraft onto Portage Lake.  Additionally, since Portage Lake and Lake Michigan are connected via a channel, you can ride the waves of the "big lake."

Fishing

As many fishermen know, the Manistee area is great for fishing in any season.  Our parking lot can easily accommodate your boat trailer and public boat launches are just a short 5-minute drive into town.  It is also possible to charter boats from area marinas.

Downtown Manistee and the River Walk

Historic downtown Manistee is a 15-minute drive and offers a wide variety of shops and restaurants.  After dinner you can stroll down the River Walk and enjoy the view of the Manistee River.

Interlochen Center for the Arts

Interlochen Center for the Arts engages and inspires people worldwide through excellence in educational, artistic and cultural programs, enhancing the quality of life through the universal language of the arts.

Interlochen's camps, classes and festivals make northwest Michigan a destination for art and cultural students and enthusiasts.  More information is available at their website.

Restaurants

Whether you are interested in casual or fine dining, a big meal or a quick bite to eat, Onekama and the surrounding areas have many restaurants that will suit your needs.

Bicycling

Miles of rolling hills make northwestern Michigan a scenic and challenging place to bike alone or with a group of friends.

Snowmobiling

Winter in northern Michigan brings deep snow that is ideal for many winter sports including snowmobiling.  You can go to Michigan Snowmobiling to browse the trails in the area.

Downhill Skiing
